InterfaithAlliance.org -- Iraq
Dear Mr. President:
We write on behalf of the boards of directors of The Interfaith Alliance and The Interfaith Alliance Foundation and the 150,000 members of these organizations who come from over 50 different religious traditions. We write regarding your decision-making related to the involvement of the United States in military action against Iraq....
Add your voice to those urging that the U.S. not act unilaterally: Write President Bush
From MoveOn.org: No War on Iraq
The Bush White House is aggressively promoting war on Iraq, without strong support from Congress, the American public, or our allies.
We believe:
"Without hard evidence that Iraq poses a clear and present danger to the U.S., Congress must act to prevent a war on Iraq."
Brent Scowcroft, the former National Security Advisor, says a U.S. invasion of Iraq "could turn the whole region into a cauldron and, thus, destroy the war on terrorism."
Henry Kissinger says, "The notion of justified pre- emption runs counter to modern international law, which sanctions the use of force in self-defense only against actual -- not potential -- threats." Kissinger also says, "American military intervention in Iraq would be supported only grudgingly, if at all, by most European allies."
Senator Chuck Hagel (R-NE) says the CIA has "absolutely no evidence" that Iraq possesses or will soon possess nuclear weapons.
Dick Armey, the House (Republican) Majority Leader, says, "I don't believe that America will justifiably make an unprovoked attack on another nation." He also says, "It would not be consistent with what we have been as a nation or what we should be as a nation."
Act now to (1) speak out, (2) tell others, and (3) help out.
Express your opinion online (even if the majority is running the other way, there's an opportunity to have your vote sent to decision-makers, and therefore help offset the other votes):

Will the Federal Courts Protect Your Rights?
Our courts are at a turning point. There are dozens of vacancies in the federal circuit courts, and it's been 8 years since a Supreme Court justice has retired --the longest period in 178 years. President Bush now has a unique opportunity to pack the courts with judges who oppose a woman's right to choose. Should he succeed, our rights could be rolled back.
"Our friends in Congress have been telling us that something amazing has been happening this week. Many of their colleagues have been finding their backbones and are starting to oppose Bush's war. One Member of Congress told us that the 57,000 faxes TrueMajority members have sent in over the past few weeks has been just the calcium these people will need to keep up the struggle during this week's debate and over the next few months. If nobody opposes Bush he'll have the blank check he wants to go to war."
